Paul Davis earned the right to challenge Marion Tinsley by winning the 1988 US National to a 3-Move WCM which was scheduled the following year. Marion Tinsley retained his title by defeating Davis 10-0-20 at the ICHF in Petal, MS, June 12 thru 15th, 1989.
